Film: 11th Birthday

Oh.. how I miss you, FILM. It’s been a long 3 months? You give me peace, romance, and beauty. Thank you : )

As you can see, I miss FILM. I loooonged to photograph with it. I just love how it makes me feel. Peace. Romance. And beauty.

Here’s a few images from my Cat’s 11th Birthday mini shoot…

Wedding: Sarah & Josh { Acres of Land Winery, Richmond, KY }

A simple flash in time… seemed like minutes. To Josh it was LOVE at first sight. He was smitten from the first second he laid eyes on a beautiful blonde, who happened to walk into the room. Where? He had no recollection because all he was thinking was that girl. Sarah. He wanted to know everything about her. It was that moment, he knew he had found the one. Over time, it was more evident she would complete him. Her smile, her sunshine, her kindness. It was right. Just right.

I remember searching for the weather on my phone for that Saturday and it said, ’53/33, Sunny and beautiful’. I knew the day was going to be just that. : )

Sarah’s lace ALLURE wedding dress was simply exquisite! Romantic to say the least. The lace appliqués and luxurious use of crystals made this champagne A-line gown a MUST HAVE! I just love how the scalloped lace overskirt of this beauty graced the length of the gown and flowed into the chapel train. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!

Sarah’s bit of bling and lace

The Bennett House (Bed & Breakfast) offered plenty of spaces to photograph the details.

A special viewing for her dad…

Just gorgeous!

Sarah and her beautiful bridesmaids. They wore black satin cocktail length dresses and classic pearls.

Josh looked mighty handsome with his classic black tux and cream tie. A single calla lily complimented the attire.

The winery at late fall…

It’s almost time for their FIRST LOOK… Oh, how I LOVE it when my couples opt to do a first look. They are usually so much more relaxed, when ‘time to see each other’ is PLANNED into the day.

Sarah and Josh chose a quiet spot at the end of a point at the winery to see each other : ) The views were amazing… pristine rolling hills and PEACE. It was perfect.

Adding a special touch to the arrival, Sarah rode to meet Josh via a horse and carriage by Destiny.

Finally… : )

Sarah carried a cascading bouquet of stargazer lillies (her favorite! ), ivory roses, green hypericum berries, green trick dianthus and seeded eucalyptus.

Josh’s groomsmen were not bad looking at all. Definitely had their poses down!

The bridesmaids bouquets were carefully hand tied with stargazer lillies, white calla lillies, green hypericum berries, ivory roses, green trick dianthus and seeded eucalyptus.

Special THANKS to Doug and Glenn for their beautiful work at the ceremony and reception sites.

Josh’s dad, Chris was the officiant of the ceremony. He was so proud of Josh..

Why do an engagement session?

THE NEW ENGAGEMENT SHOOT! I LOVE (really LOVE) engagement shoots! My couples look forward to it and it’s another reason to dress up and be on a FUN date, so to speak! But, sometimes convincing a couple to do a shoot can be challenging. A few months ago, I read  this on BRIDES magazine. They couldn’t have said it better than I could…
From Brides Magazine..
Yes, it is a NECCESSITY! Here’s why!
No, it is not cheesy or ‘work’. It’s meant to be FUN. A time spent with each other. A date. A memorable moment. Today’s couple is is more likely to pose (have a great time) in a field while sipping a milkshake- with her guy!
Say ‘cheese’ no more!
These days, couple’s aren’t satisfied with basic studio pictures. For a long time, the BRIDE-to-be is featured in the local newspaper by herself. Now COUPLES are shooting outdoors (in fields and beaches) and thinking different! High-concept, says ‘Brides Magazine’. We’ve seen Brides hire stylists to move furniture into meadows, old barns, sometimes replicating an era/ decade. Some couples are opting for the high-fashion feel or even using a theme from a movie or a polished look (eg JCrew, Ralph Lauren). These themes are starting points.. later they bring in the props and wardrobes to match the mood. Some get personal and incorporate ‘love letters’, love emails… anything that says THEM!
Places to go:
you alma mater
a baseball stadium
an ice cream parlor
a science lab
a vacation spot
a starbucks or your local coffee shop
A modern Engagement shoot is RIGHT for you if:
The two of you love to ham it up!
You’re hoping to use the informal photos for Save the Dates, Thank You cards, reception portraits, showers…
You want to get to know the photographer you’ve already booked
You having a destination wedding but love the idea of being photographed in your hometown
Lights, camera, shoot!
How to get PERFECT pre-wedding photos:
1.  PICK the right photographer. Browse the photographer’s portfolio/ album to make sure she’s a good match for you. Do you love her style?
2.  Make the photos about the two of YOU. Did you go to the ice parlor on your first date? Did he propose at a ball game?
3.  Be flexible. Discuss with your photographer about locations. Some pretty locations might have poor lighting.
4.  FLIRT! You are on a date (so to speak). Your photos will benefit greatly from your ability to let loose and have fun.
So helpful! I hope this helps some of you and my future couple-clients-to-be. Let’s shoot : )
** Special THANKS to all my awesome couples **

Engagement: Alyssa & Michael

It has been a little over 6 years.  The moment Alyssa and Michael became an item. Yes, they were high school sweethearts. I know… It sounds so predictable. First, they were friends and knew friends and then before you know it, they became MORE than friends. Alyssa knew she was going to marry Michael then. At age 16. He must have swept her off her feet then and certainly 6 years later when he proposed on Christmas eve! In front of family and friends, he made her dreams come true : ) You can’t help but like Alyssa. She smiles constantly. Kind and sweet. A few reasons why Michael is smitten. They laugh, enjoy hot chocolate and relish each others company when they are together. And of course Christmas. Their day after.

We started off our session quite perfectly. Alyssa just had a beautiful makeover by Jemma M Gayheart and she looked amazing!

Alyssa dressed simply in a blue shirt-dress, belted and RED nail polish! Love the POP of color!

The sunset was a dream. For days, it had been raining cats and dogs… cold and miserable. This day, it cleared just for us.

Just look at how they look at each other …

Yes, this is blurry.. but it’s one of my favorites. It’s intentional, emotional and a bit private.

Please click HERE to view Alyssa & Michael’s SLIDESHOW. And be sure to leave a note for these love birds… who are getting married next June!!

Alyssa and Michael: THANK YOU for believing in me and for this honor. I simply can’t wait for your upcoming celebration : )

SPECIAL THANKS: Jemma Gayheart (Makeup Artist)
