#1 item you see is a MUST HAVE for women?
Foundation Primer!
Top 5 steps TO DO to look good
1
Make sure you are taking care of your skin.
It is so important to wash your makeup off each night because it gives your skin a chance to breathe.
2
Before applying your foundation be sure to use a foundation primer.
A foundation primer will help fill in any fine lines and large pores you may have and also helps your makeup last longer through out the day.
3
Do not neglect your eyebrows.
For people that have thin or sparce eyebrows they should definitley look into using a brow pencil or brow powder to help fill them on. Woman who have thicker eyebrows could use a brow powder to or just a brow gel to help keep them in place. I don’t think alot of people realize how much a defined or filled in brow can help you look more polished.
4
If your going to go bold with either your lipstick or eyeshadow make sure you tone down everything else.
If you want a smokey eye then you will want more of a nude lip, if you want to wear a red or dark lipstick then keep your eyeshadow more neutral. Its all about balance.
5
Pick an eyeliner that suits your skin tone and hair color as well.
A lot of people think that their only option for eyeliner is black, but the truth is not everyone can pull it off. It looks over bearing on girls who are more fair skinned. Look into different shades of brown or charcoal.
Top 5 products to have at all times
1. Blotting Powder or Oil Botting Sheets
2. Lipstick/Lipgloss
3. Makeup Remover Wipes
4. Blush/Bronzer ( If you are in a hurry you can use it as eyeshadow too)
5. Sunscreen
Classic Mistakes Women Make
1
Wearing foundation or powder that is either too light or dark for them. It is worth it to go a cosmetic store where you can try the makeup on and have your foundation matched to your skin. Make sure you still blend it a little bit down onto your neck.
2
Not wearing age appropriate makeup.
3
Wearing concealer that is too light.
4
Not blending in lip liner with the lipstick.
5
Wearing eyeshadow colors that are too bold or too intense for their skin tone or age.

If you know or seen me, I am makeup challenged. I either have too little or too much. My eye crease shadow is in the wrong spot. My foundation is all wrong. My eyebrows look like skinny caterpillars and auburn in color… the list goes on. So, when I met Jemma I knew she would be THE person to share some tips with me and perhaps other women as well. Regardless of age and skill. If you remember, I photographed her BRIDAL SHOOT a few weeks ago : ) and it was just beautiful. So, I knew we need to get together again. But this time, watching her do her magic- a simple but classic RED LIPS look. So fitting for the holiday season or anytime you’re looking to be glammed up for a special occasion or photo session ; ) hint, hint…
Here’s Jemma in action..
A few things about Jemma…
1. Why Makeup?
I have always been a very artistic person when it came to drawing or painting so I guess for me a models face has always been the ultimate blank canvas. I am able to transform that person and mold them without any real limitations, no matter how wild or extreme.
2. How did you get into Makeup Artistry?
My Freshman year of college I really started to find my way with doing makeup for others. My friends would ask me all of the time to do their makeup for functions and I was even asked to do makeup for an entire bridal party so I figured this could be something to pursue. I was accepted to the school MUDD in Burbank, California where they specialized in everything from Runway makeup to models and Cinema. Thats when my eyes were really opened and everything just seemed to fall into place.
3. At MAC
A lot of the girls that attended MUDD were working for MAC cosmetics and MAC was always a company that I wanted to work for. One of the girls I worked with in another job in L.A. was also a MAC artist so she helped me get my foot in the door. Whenever they had events I would always assist her and try to throw out some ideas. Her manager offered me the opportunity to work as a MAC freelance artist and also work the launch parties and events that they held.
4. At Merle Norman
I actually grew up around Merle Norman products because my mother had worked for the company during the eighties. She was one of the best employees and makeup artist they had and was offered a position to do makeup for a movie they were filming at the time. I began working for Merle Norman when I moved to Kentucky in November of 2009. It’s wonderful to work for a brand that my mom had once worked for. I guess I inherited my talent from her.
5. What do you love about makeup?
I would say the number one thing I love about makeup is the creativity that comes with it. You have the ability to transform a woman’s confidence and the way she perceives herself with just a few strokes of a brush. I would say the number one request I get from girls is the ‘smokey eye’ because that look makes them feel sexy and more mysterious. It just amazes me how a little makeup can do wonders for a woman’s confidence.
Final touches to the ol’ classic..
