Wedding: Missy + Chris {Bobby Davis Memorial Park, Kentucky}

I was blown away when I saw Missy’s wedding gown. It was breathtaking beyond words. It’s lace- so delicate on it’s upper bodice and hem, along with a satin sash around the waist. I couldn’t wait to photograph it on Missy. I know she was going to be beautiful! : )

The day started out great- with plenty of sunshine. My assistant Keshia and I were early at the Bobby Davis Memorial Park ceremony/ reception site to get a glimpse of the awesome decor and design. Davida (Bride’s sister) and other relatives have been working tirelessly the night before and all morning, to transform the park into an English garden. An English garden wedding. I was beyond excited when I heard about her vision several months ago. Outdoor weddings are always a risk, but I just LOVE them! They are simply delightful : ) I especially love the floral choices- white hydrangeas, creamy white roses and berries were the recurring theme around the venue. White candles were everywhere … for the romantic look of an evening wedding.

Chris and his groomsmen have had a great day. They relaxed on the lake just hours before the wedding and when it came time to be dressed to the nines, they were one happy bunch. AND one handsome looking group on men I must say! They make Chris look pretty good!

Chris cleaned up pretty nice… remember his ‘cowboy’ look at the their ENGAGEMENT session? See a recap here.

Sepia side of romance

I’ve always loved Black & White. To me it brings out the emotion and ROMANCE of an image, much more than color. It shows movement, life, serenity and more than ever, LOVE. So, recently I’ve played more with black and white and now SEPIA. Is it back (in style)? I think so. With a touch of warmth and l-o-v-e.

Enjoy these images of an amazing wedding I had the honor of photographing this weekend. More soon : )

WEDDING: Krystal + Kaleb {Hindman, Kentucky}

It has been in the works for almost 2 years… a day planned for matrimony between Krystal and Kaleb. Friends first, then really good friends, then lovers. Krystal had been in Pharmacy School in Grundy, West Virginia when Kaleb decided to ‘surprise’ propose. She knew it all along that he was up to something. They hiked and enjoyed the overlooks and when it was time, Kaleb dropped to one knee and said those sweet words. It was the most memorable day, recalled Krystal. She finished Pharmacy school just a week prior to the big day.. all along studying, working, and planning at the same time. Stressed, yes. But, she was ready, Kaleb was ready. THE day came… sunshine and all. Slightly warm, slightly sunny. More than slightly lovely.

KrystalKalebSTYLE_5_FRONT

Normally, Krystal is a natural beauty. But, this day she knocked every one’s socks off. Thanks to Samantha at Magic Mirror (Hindman) and Brooke at Merle Norman (Hindman) for her unforgettable wedding day look : ) Her ivory, A-line dress by Exclusively Bridal (Allure) was elegant- with delicate beading and satin pleats. Hugging her curves just so. She chose a vintage look to her veil coupled with a tiara for a fairy tale look. She was radiant.

KrystalKalebDSC_7794

 KrystalKalebDSC_7798 s b

Her bouquet looked like freshly picked flowers from the garden, tied loosely with cream ribbon. She chose all white for her bouquet and all red flowers for her bridal party bouquets and boutenniors (red is one of her favorite colors : ) White continued to be the theme throughout the ceremony and reception florals especially designed by ‘Flowers by Olivia’ from Hazard, Kentucky. It was clean, fresh, and pristine along with the natural garden background of the ceremony site. So naturally beautiful. I just love it!

My First

My first spa treatment EVER was something to write about. I couldn’t imagine going to the SPA at home because it doesn’t really feel like a S-P-A. You know… ocean breeze, amazing views, fresh coconut drink, island music in the air feeling? Escaping from it ALL feeling? Yes, I decided to do just that while vacationing at Myrtle Beach for the weekend. I found all the above except the fresh coconut drink : ( Great thing was, I didn’t have to scout the whole beach for an affordable experience. I found the Atlantis Spa at the Sand Dunes Resort just a few blocks away from where we were staying. I called on Friday and got us in for Saturday. I CAN’T WAIT! I thought to myself. My Green Tea Mint salt scrub would just have to wait at home.

DSC_9619

We arrived at the busy resort and found our way to the spa. We were greeted by Yvette and in just a few minutes we were in our rooms. I was advised to go with the SUGAR scrub instead of the salt since I was a little dry.  First, massage..  then hot rock massage { besalt they are called?} and lastly the scrub. ONE hour went by… it’s been an hour? Nonetheless, I felt ren-e-w-e-d. AND my phone didn’t ring!

Notice how fun times aways go so fast? I could go for 2 more hours of this! Anyway, I could get used to this method of relaxation. Better than shopping, eating, and SHOES? Yes, at times this would do. I would highly recommend the treatment. Any treatment for that matter if a scrub isn’t for you. I encourage ALL husbands, boyfriends, fiances to give a gift of relaxation to your loved ones. She will THANK YOU! And vice versa. Remember how hard it is to buy for us? Well, think no more.

DSC_9684

For brides-to-be? Just DO it! Your sanity will thank YOU. Yvette recommends having one done about 2 days before the big day. Or try it out a month before to make sure it is for you. So, the next thing on my TO DO list… is to find a place where I can buy the hot rocks, towel warmer machine, etc…

 : ) Have a spa-rific day!

xoxo

Salts and scrubs

My friend Vikki recently had a salt scrub treatment and raved about how smooth her skin felt afterwards. Now..that’s something I’ve never tried, let alone had a spa treatment/ massage. I thought life was too short to work and not play. It was definitely time for that ‘personal’ attention for my skin. ESPECIALLY my skin. So, I went to the local beauty store {small steps} to see if they have the ingredients for a HOMEMADE salt scrub. Just to try it out.

Home Made Salt Scrub~

1/2 cup oil { sweet almond, grapeseed, or any light textured massage oil} Please: NO cooking oil from the pantry!

1 cup FINE sea salt. Please: NO common iodized table salt. It is too harsh.

A few drops of high quality essential oils. Anything else will leave you smelling like ‘cheap perfume’. Lavender, lemongrass, rose or your personal blend are good choices.

{For SENSITIVE SKIN: use sugar instead.}

Anyway, as I comb through the aisles for sea salt, lavender (my favorite)… I found a jar of GREEN TEA MINT Spa Salt Scrub- all ready to go! Turns out they didn’t have the separate ingredients to make it from scratch but I did find some lavender essential oils. I decided to give these a try. As I return home, to chores, dinner, and more work… the jar of Green Tea Mint salt scrub sat on the counter. Unopened. Where did the time go? When will I find some time to actually use it? Maybe soon… yes, my tired skin is patiently waiting.

In the mean time, I’m busy going through the images I photographed at a recent outdoor wedding in Hindman, KY. I’m sure Krystal and Kaleb are having their massages and salt scrubs in beautiful St Lucia as we speak : ) So for now, here is a quick sneak peek of this extremely sweet couple just moments after I Do : )

Have a great day and stay tuned for more : )

Hazard High School Prom: Rachel & Julie

Rachel and Julie dressed up for PROM one last time and this year it was the one to remember. Rachel picked a colorful zebra-floral, beaded gown and bold rhinestone and gold earrings and heels. She looked absolutely stunning! Her date Kyle was ‘suited’ well in a dark suit with kobalt blue tie to match Rachel.
