My mother-in-law Gail
If you saw someone driving down the road wearing a red hat lately… that was me. It was DERBY weekend and I wanted to be IN the festivities and have a little fun. It’s the next best thing to BEING in Louisville, without running through the mud and fighting in the rain. My good friend and future bride Margie was so sweet to lend me one of her hats (yes, she has a collection) and I chose this red number. I knew I was wearing either a black and white floral dress or my navy blue Ann Taylor cocktail dress. Either dress will work. Here’s me in the latter taken by CATherine : )
I just noticed my lashes are seriously short…
I just happen to have some RED roses in my yard : )
Maybe next year… I’ll wear one at the DERBY ; )
Stay tuned for a few F.A.B. MOTHERS I’ll be featuring all this week in honor of Mother’s Day. Have a great one!
You’re too cute! Love the hat!
Recently, I attended a class at the Home & Garden Store to learn how to set a table. Now wait! Knife right, fork left…. yes, it’s more than that. Rob, Lisa and Terry were MORE than gracious and kind to share some of their spring ideas with us local ladies. They made it look so simple and easy to do. No more over thinking and over stressing about designing a table scape to impress our guests : ) Here are a few ideas for your parties this year…
A simple coconut cake topped with a bird nest and surrounded by simple greenery and candy eggs. Pair it with a gorgeous cake stand. Walla!
Entertain informally by turning any coffee table/ occasional table into a dessert tablescape. And make everyone feel special : )
Garden themed tablescape: Moss tablemats, flower pot containers, seed favors… endless ideas!
Check out the delicate lace trimmed table cloth. So romantic and would make a delightful gift for Mother’s Day!
Sweetest Things
Who wouldn’t LOVE this pink & white china?
Greenhouse and tiered hors d’oeuvres stand. Creative juices flowing yet?
Breakfast for two?
The coolest ‘vintage’ bathroom I know.
And last but not least, Happy Derby Weekend!!
I can’t wait to taste my very FIRST mint julep tomorrow!
Find all these FINE things at The Home & Garden Store located in the Walkertown section of Hazard or call 606.435.1522 for information and directions.
Special THANKS to Terry, Rob & Lisa for an wonderful afternoon : ) I look forward to more of these classes!

It’s interesting to see what people carry with them on a daily basis. What are their MUST HAVES? I use to carry large structured bags- to hold EVERYTHING! I try to carry ‘below’ my weight limit and certainly not the kitchen sink. Then, I went to smaller bags that I can just throw over my shoulder/ body and be minimalistic. Less need to have everything on hand, therefore less weight! It was the time where I no longer have to have ‘baby/ kid’ stuff with me. It was liberating. I gave up almost all of it except for WIPES. ‘I’ need them, still. For those emergencies?! Anyway, what do I carry in a small bag (9″x7″x2″)? JUST the necessities- A narrow, almost flat wallet, a phone, gum, lipgloss, keys, and a business card case. As life fail to get simpler, my small bag turned on me. There’s no space for anything else! Those BIG bags start to look HOT again! Alluring magazine ads TELL me I NEED these bigger, bolder, more FUN bags! I went to my closet and ‘un-retire’ my almond colored MEDIUM size slouchy hand bag. Small steps. Small steps. I can fit all my necessities AND my red velvet ‘birdie’ notebook- for those BIG IDEAS! I’m content now. It has room for an apple or a snack and maybe a small go-to makeup bag with travel size wipes: )
What’s in your BAG?
… for plain white cupcake liners

In this PART 2, Bennett shows off his ‘SKILLS’ – sports, favorite past time, driving…
Hot potato…look at those arms!
Impressing the ‘girl’ already!
Here’s one for the ‘ladies’ ; )
Bennett is unsure about his future… a toss up betweem a basketball star or a tow truck driver.
He might need to do BOTH to support his taste for expensive toys!
See more of Bennett HERE… he likes to show off..
his CUTE smile, of course!
Have a great week!

I love those shots! Great work, Chris! It was really nice meeting you, by the way (I know I am late – I’ve neglected my blog reader, and just now catching up).
Is he a HAM or what? Who can resist this smile and eyes? He was cute when he was 6 mo, cuter at 1 year and now at 18 months… phew… even the ‘ladies’ love him! He dresses well in his checked, long sleeve, button down shirt- only stylish boys wear. Perfectly fit khaki pants to show off his cute butt..well, you already know that ; ) Bennett is walking, running, and doing what boys like to do… play on the tractor, ride in his wagon, and before long, play in the mud. Well, maybe not in the mud. He doesn’t like a mess. We’ll see. Here are just a few of Bennett, being his handsome self. I believe he can be the NEXT Gap Kid… ooops… Ralph Lauren Kid!
Totally in touch with nature.
Working the gear and wheel.
Check out the SLIDE SHOW for more of Bennett : ) Thanks for being here!
Be sure to say HI and leave a comment : )
